GCDRRA - Gold Coast and District Rugby Referees' Association Inc

The Gold Coast District Rugby Referees Association was formed in 1978 to support Rugby competitions for senior and junior clubs and schools located on the Gold Coast and Hinterland of Queensland.

Our charter is to provide all levels of Rugby with quality, educated match officials and to provide the means for each active official to reach his or her potential through encouragement, opportunity and support. We aim at engaging with the community at large and so provide the opportunity to learn about the game of Rugby as part of the process to expand participation levels.

Interested members of the community are encouraged to participate in Rugby as match officials and the Association supports the promotion of education programs of Rugby Australia. Education programs are recognised at a national level and details of course availability may be accessed through Rugby Australia’s ‘Rugby learning Centre’ a link to which can be found on our Links page..

Gold Coast has a strong and well respected local competition which provides the opportunity for match officials to develop their skills in managing the game. In addition there are a number of events throughout the season involving local and overseas teams. The growth in Sevens Rugby is also opening up new opportunities for match officials.

Any member with the potential to reach a higher level is encouraged to achieve that potential and there are opportunities to gain experience in other competitions. Those of our membership who have experienced this exposure have been highly motivated by the experience. The Association supports junior match official development and is active in encouraging participation from all those interested and in particular school and club based junior players.
